Bespoke work

Custom work, made together

If you have an idea that doesn’t quite exist yet, I may be able to make it with you.

Custom work can be anything from a small adjustment to an existing piece, to a completely new jewellery design, electroformed object or something much harder to put into a category.

Choose the option below that feels closest to what you have in mind. If you’re unsure, that’s completely fine — I can help you work it out.

Minor changes & adjustments

01

Minor changes & adjustments

For small alterations to existing SonchCreates.Art pieces — chain length, cord changes, clasps, simple fit adjustments or similar practical changes.

Some adjustments are simple; others depend on how the original piece was constructed.

Electroformed jewellery & art

02

Electroformed jewellery & art

For copper-based pieces built around gemstones, insects, botanicals, specimens or unusual found forms.

This can include jewellery, sculptural pieces and small decorative work.

Silversmithing & metalsmithing

03

Silversmithing & metalsmithing

COMING SOON

For traditional metalwork in silver, copper, brass and other suitable materials.

Best for jewellery or objects requiring fabricated, soldered, formed or stone-set construction.

Curiosities, décor & unusual work

04

Curiosities, décor & unusual work

For things that don’t fit neatly into a jewellery category — specimen displays, decorative objects, keepsakes, unusual materials or stranger one-off ideas.

If you’re not sure whether something is possible, ask.

The process

From idea to finished piece

01

Tell me your idea

You don’t need a finished design. Send me what you know so far — references, materials, colours, size, meaning or simply the feeling you want the piece to have.

02

We work out the details

We’ll discuss design, materials, practical limitations, timing and an estimated price.

03

Deposit & making

Once the design is agreed, a deposit secures the commission and I begin making your piece.

04

Final details & delivery

I’ll confirm any final details, finish the piece and arrange collection or delivery. Any remaining balance is paid before dispatch or collection.

Small practical changes

Request a small adjustment

For changes to an existing SonchCreates.Art piece.

Tell me what you would like adjusted and, if possible, include a clear photo. I’ll confirm what is technically possible, together with the price and likely turnaround, before anything is agreed.

Full commissions

Request a custom commission

For a completely new piece, object or unusual idea.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. Tell me what you’re thinking, add any useful references, and let me know about materials, size, budget or timing if those things already matter to you.

I’ll review the request and let you know what looks possible before anything is agreed.

FAQ

Are you currently accepting commissions?

I accept a limited number of full commissions so that each piece receives the attention it deserves. Every request is reviewed individually, and I may decline a project based on suitability or capacity.

If my workshop schedule is full, I may offer a place on a limited waiting list. Joining that list does not guarantee a start date or reserve a paid commission slot. Enquiries about small adjustments remain welcome throughout the year.

Do I need a finished design or a fixed budget?

Neither is necessary. You can start with a favourite stone, a rough idea, a meaningful object or a particular atmosphere.

Sharing a budget range is optional, but helps me suggest suitable materials, scale and complexity. If your original idea exceeds that range, I can discuss alternatives. You will receive a quote before deciding whether to proceed.

Can I supply my own materials?

You are welcome to enquire about your own stones, insects, botanicals, ashes or other meaningful materials. Please describe what you have and include photographs where appropriate.

I will assess suitability, condition, origin and any risks involved before accepting them. Some processes permanently alter or encapsulate materials, so we will discuss this beforehand—especially for irreplaceable keepsakes. Please do not send anything until we have agreed on the arrangements.

Can you source a particular stone or specimen?

Where possible, yes. I can help you choose from studio stock or discuss sourcing something especially for your project.

Special orders, custom stone cutting, international shipping and customs clearance can add time. I will give the most accurate estimate I can and keep you informed if it changes. If you have a fixed deadline, materials already in stock may be the most practical option.

Will I see the design before it is finished?

Yes. I will share the important material choices and composition for approval before permanent work begins.

Changes are easiest at these checkpoints. Once an approved stone or specimen has been permanently incorporated, replacing it may require a remake and a new quote. Patina and finishing choices can usually remain flexible until their respective stages begin. I will explain when a decision needs to be final.

What happens if I miss an approval email?

Production pauses whenever I need your approval or further information. Estimated completion dates assume replies within three business days.

A delayed reply can change the completion estimate and may mean moving your piece to the next available workshop slot. I will confirm the revised timing when we resume; I cannot compress the remaining making time to preserve the original date.

How do payment and deposits work?

Once we have agreed on your design, quote and estimated timeframe, a deposit of usually 50% is required before I order materials or begin production. Projects involving specially ordered materials may require a higher deposit, which we will agree on beforehand.

The deposit forms part of your total price. The remaining balance is due once your piece is ready, before dispatch or collection.

Small adjustments may have a simpler payment arrangement, confirmed with your quote. Sending an enquiry does not commit you to a purchase or reserve a commission slot.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Please contact me as soon as possible if your circumstances change.

For bespoke commissions where the statutory cooling-off right does not apply, I offer cancellation on the following basis: if no agreed work has begun and no non-recoverable costs have been incurred, I will refund your deposit in full.

Otherwise, I will provide an itemised breakdown of reasonable costs for agreed work already completed and materials purchased specifically for your project that cannot be returned or reasonably reused. Any unused portion of your deposit will be refunded, accounting for costs saved or recovered.

If I cancel because I cannot complete your agreed commission, I will refund your payments.

This cancellation arrangement does not limit your statutory rights, including any applicable withdrawal rights or rights relating to faulty goods.

Can I change the design during production?

I will share important stages with you, such as stone selection and the arrangement of materials, before moving on to work that cannot easily be reversed.

Small changes may still be possible before the relevant stage begins. For example, we can discuss a different patina before the finish is applied.

Replacing a stone or specimen after it has been permanently incorporated may require a remake. I will explain the additional work, cost and revised timeframe before you decide whether to proceed. Additional charges will always require your agreement.

Production pauses while I await your approval, so delayed replies may move the estimated completion date. Corrections needed because I have not followed our agreed design will not be charged as customer-requested changes.
