Phoenix Amber is run by my friend and fellow artist Zuzana. We originally met while studying jewellery together, and these days I spend part of my working week there alongside my own SonchCreates.Art pieces.

At the heart of the shop are two artists who genuinely care about craftsmanship and love working with natural materials. Amber is naturally a huge part of that — and the amber we work with is untreated and fully natural.

The collection includes Baltic amber, pieces containing fascinating organic inclusions, and exceptionally rare Dominican amber in naturally occurring blue and green colours. The blue amber in particular often surprises visitors, as many people have never seen — or even realised there could be — naturally blue, untreated amber.

You’ll also find Czech garnets, moldavite, larimar and other stones and jewellery.

Phoenix Amber is quite deliberately not the typical central-Prague souvenir shop. The focus is on natural materials, unusual pieces, proper craftsmanship and being able to actually ask questions about what you’re looking at.

We’re slowly developing it into a tiny place for curiosity, learning and looking closer — somewhere you can examine natural materials, discover how they form and learn more about the objects and processes behind the jewellery.

There are already amber inclusions you can examine under magnification, and the educational side of the shop will continue to grow alongside the jewellery.
