Full description
This is quite a statement piece, built around a real cicada of the species Cryptotympana aquila and a rather generous helping of amethyst.
A raw amethyst crystal cluster sits at the top, with a Brazilian marquise-shaped amethyst in the centre and two smaller pear-shaped amethysts on the lower wings.
The cicada is preserved through copper electroforming, keeping the delicate structure of its wings. A wine-red patina and hand-mixed purple and blue pigments bring out the colour of the stones.
The surface is sealed with ProtectaClear and finished with Renaissance wax.
Jewellery care
Jewellery care
To keep your jewellery looking its best, avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals. Store it separately in a dry place and wipe gently with a soft cloth when needed.
Copper and patinated finishes naturally evolve over time, which is part of their character. Please see the full Jewellery Care guide for detailed advice.

Handmade & ethical sourcing
Handmade & ethical sourcing
Every piece is individually made and finished by hand, so small variations are part of its character.
Natural specimens, where used, are sourced from old collections, educational or scientific rejects, or found deceased where lawful. I do not use protected species. Some designs use high-quality replicas instead, and this is always stated in the product details.
